SICK 6043834, type VL180-2P42433 from the V180 series, is a compact retro-reflective photoelectric sensor designed for reliable object detection in industrial automation applications. It uses visible red LED light with a polarising filter and a reflector-based sensing principle, making it suitable for detecting objects across conveyors, packaging lines, handling systems and machine installations where consistent switching performance is required.
The sensor features a cylindrical M18 metal housing with radial optics, measuring 18 mm x 18 mm x 84.2 mm, and is built with nickel-plated brass, PC and PMMA optical materials for robust use in demanding environments. It operates from a 10–30 V DC supply and provides a PNP switching output with light/dark switching capability. With a sensing range of 0.05 m to 4.5 m and a maximum switching distance of up to 5.5 m when used with a suitable reflector, the VL180-2P42433 offers flexible installation in a wide range of detection tasks.
Designed for fast response, this SICK photoelectric sensor has a response time of ≤ 0.5 ms and a switching frequency of 1,000 Hz. It is fitted with a 4-pin M12 connector, includes sensitivity adjustment via a 270° potentiometer, and provides LED indication for output and stability status. Its IP67-rated enclosure and operating temperature range of –25 °C to +55 °C make it well suited to industrial environments where dependable non-contact sensing is essential.
