What is this unit used for?
It is a DIN-rail/panel-mount switch-mode AC/DC power supply designed to convert a wide-range AC input into a regulated 24 VDC output for industrial control and automation loads.
What input voltage range does it accept?
It accepts a universal AC input of 100 to 240 VAC nominal, with an allowable range of 85 to 264 VAC, at 47 to 450 Hz.
What is the rated output and maximum output current?
The rated output is 24 VDC at 600 W. This corresponds to a rated output current of approximately ``600 W / 24 V = 25 A``.
Can the output voltage be adjusted?
Yes. The output includes a V.ADJ adjuster that allows the output voltage to be increased or decreased by up to 10%.
Does it provide overload and short-circuit protection?
Yes. Overload protection operates at 105% minimum. For the 600 W model, if excessive current continues for 5 seconds or more, the output is turned OFF and must be reset by removing input power and waiting at least three minutes before reapplying power.
Does it have overvoltage protection?
Yes. Overvoltage protection trips when the output rises above a set level (115% of rated output voltage), shutting the output OFF. Reset is performed by turning the unit OFF for at least 1 minute and then turning it ON again.
Does it include overtemperature protection?
Yes. The 600 W model includes overheat protection. If internal temperature rises excessively (for example due to fan issues), the output is protected and an alarm indicator will light. Reset is done by removing input power for at least 1 minute, then reapplying power.
What do the LEDs indicate?
There is a green DC ON indicator that lights when DC output is present. The 600 W model also has a red Protection-ON alarm indicator that lights when protective functions such as overvoltage, overheat, or overcurrent detection are triggered.
Can two units be operated in parallel for higher current?
Yes. Parallel operation is supported on 300 W and 600 W models, up to a maximum of 2 units, provided they are operated under 90% of their ratings. For best current sharing, use wiring of the same thickness and length to the load to minimise voltage-drop differences.
Is series operation supported to obtain a higher DC voltage?
No. Series operation is specified only for certain 100 W and 150 W models, so it is not a recommended/defined operating method for this 600 W unit.
Does this model use natural convection or forced cooling?
The 600 W model uses fan cooling. Adequate airflow and mounting clearances should be provided to maintain performance and reliability.
What is the typical hold time during AC input interruption?
Hold time is 20 ms minimum (at rated input and load conditions) to help ride through brief input dips.
What ripple level can be expected on the output?
Output ripple is specified as 2% peak-to-peak maximum (under rated conditions).
What environmental conditions is it designed for?
It is designed for industrial environments with operating temperature dependent on the derating curve (no condensation or icing). Storage temperature is -25°C to 65°C (no condensation or icing), and ambient humidity is 25% to 85%.
How should the protective earth/ground be connected?
Connect the grounding (GR) terminal to protective earth. Proper earthing is required for safe operation and EMC performance.
What is the recommended terminal screw tightening torque?
Terminal screw tightening torque is 1.08 N·m. Avoid pressing down on the terminal block with excessive force while tightening.
What is the expected fan service life, and is a replacement fan available?
Typical fan service life is approximately 50,000 hours at 25°C (varies with temperature and dust). As preventive maintenance, replace within two years if used at 40°C. A replacement fan set is available as model S82Y-JFAN; this is applicable to the 600 W unit (Omron S8PS-60024C).
